I have never had a curly cut before and was tired of going to salons who didn’t know how to cut curly hair. I came to Samantha to get my first curly cut and she did not disappoint. She was literally the best. She walked me through every step and would explain what she was going to do and why she was doing it. She has helped me with finding good products that will hydrate my hair while also leaving it shiny. I highly recommend her if you need a curly cut!

I get so many compliments regarding my cut and color from Jhovanna! I carry her card in my wallet because perfect strangers will ask me where I get my hair done. Jhovanna is fantastic about listening to what you want–having a picture is always best though–and doing her best to help you attain that look. She is also always upfront about coloring processes and will work with “fashion colors” for my 13 year old as well as sticking to more conservative looks for me. I recommend her to all my family and friends. Her prices are pretty typical of any high end salon in the NoVa area.

This was a really disappointing experience, especially after searching for so long to find a curly hair salon! Jhovanna did not seem more specialized in curly hair than any other salon I’ve been to. I was really excited, but Jhovanna was rather rude and my hair turned out just okay. It was the coloring that is the reason for my disappointment though. I’m not sure if or when she was ever trained in doing hair, but the color ended up splotchy. It looked like an amateur did it. Heck, I could have done a better job myself. I had to go to another salon to fix it. I’d give her zero stars if I could.

Do NOT go here. I am SHOCKED by the amount of good reviews, which is why I went. Huge mistake. Jhovanna completely scammed me and was very rude about it. The deva curl haircut was fine but nothing special, definitely not worth the extra money as I’ve had better curly haircuts elsewhere. I also asked for a balayage. I was there ALL day. Over 8 hours. I’ve had balayage before and it has never taken more than 2 hours. She had absolutely no idea what she was doing. When she was done, it was NOT the color I asked for. I asked for a brown auburn but it was red, like Ariel red. Then she tried to charge $600. I was shocked and said I would not be paying that. She said I should have known. I’ve never paid more than $200 for a balayage (in the NOVA area) so no, that should have been disclosed. I even explained that was not the color I asked for and I was not happy with the results. She argued with me. Her receptionist ended up charging me $400 which was still ridiculous. I was crying as I paid, but it’s not like I could walk out without paying. I didn’t come to pay double the price and she was extremely rude to me, terrible attitude and not friendly at all. I wasn’t rude to her at all, didn’t shout or anything. I just calmly asked if she could give me the price breakdown (which she couldn’t) and said it should not be that expensive. She clearly has no idea how to do hair or what different colors are. I had to spend extra money to have a friend strip out all the dye because I have a job where “colored” hair like red isn’t acceptable. I just wanted a muted auburn for fall. I was disgusted with the way it was handled, she was not apologetic at all and blamed ME. My hair is really important to me and I don’t make much money so that was just one small thing to treat myself. I literally cried for days. This place should be shut down.
