Critical: ProfessionalismHi guys,It’s Activist Kaila Pain. I’ve recently interviewed with this salon for a receptionist position to pick up employment because activism doesn’t pay the bills. The owner when interviewed made a statement about my hair and that I wouldn’t be able to get hired at any other salon due to my hair. She then went on this rant about how other black women have came for interviews and she expressed that she didn’t like the way they looked but hired them anyway because they were pretty girls. As a black woman and activist I would like for everyone to know that our hair doesn’t define us. It’s our ability to do the job sufficiently and properly is key. She was pleasant in her delivery but it raised so many red flags . Initially I took the job because I have bills and I’m out of work at this time. However, I had to put on my activism hat and say,”NO”. I decline this position and good look on your candidates who better suite your needs. In my mind it’s irritating of how ignorant people are. But lady… I’ve worked around all types of celebrities with this hair and MAC Cosmetics for 7 years as well. I never until the day of my interview had anyone say to me … you know no other salon will hire you with your hair right!? Girl… yes they will and I’ll show you. It was a great salon. Aida Colette is great and she does an amazing job. Everyone is very personable and clean. They practice soca distancing here and really show that they care about each client like family. Cuts, trims, colors they do it all and i reccomend them for all beautifying needs.

I’ve been getting my colour with Maria for over 14 years. She works with my natural color to soften in the summer and brighten in the winter. She is the best!! Aida has given me one of the best cuts I have ever had. She completely understands how to cut fine straight hair without leaving it stringy. I love that I can just wash and go!

The people are very nice and professional and I have been there before but I saw someone new and she was also nice and I like the blonde color she gave me however she didn’t get nearly close enough to my scalp and my roots were noticeable even when she dried it.
