Having gone almost 14 months without a haircut in the process of growing out longer hair (for the first time), I was a little apprehensive of the salon experience having gone primarily to barbers before. Courtney handled my cut perfectly for the look I was going for and even threw in a free deep conditioning. Great experience.

I chose this salon based on others’ reviews and it’s lived up to my expectations. COVID lockdown was especially hard on my hair and the colorist and the stylist expertly listen and solve hair problems. The shop environment is really pleasant from the moment you enter.

Stopped in for the first time yesterday for a cut from Sarah. I wanted a simple, no fuss cut to even out me cutting my own hair for some time. She was gentle, professional, and delightful. My hair looks great. It’s hard to find someone who can do a quality simple even cut. I’ll be back 🙂

Do not get your haircut from Courtney here. I have been going to this salon for years to get my haircut with Courtney. Unfortunately, today I received the worst haircut I have ever gotten. I showed Courtney a picture of Kate Middleton’s long haircut, and somehow ended up with 6 inches cut off and shoulder length hair. When I brought up my concern that my hair was getting too short she said “give it two weeks and it will be where you want it”. After she finished styling it, I again expressed my concern that it was way too short, and she said “I guess I just pictured shoulder length hair for the summer instead of what you were thinking”. Courtney could not have been more dismissive or unprofessional when addressing my concerns. l was almost in tears in the chair. The picture I showed her was far from the shoulder-length haircut I received today. Unfortunately, that didn’t matter to Courtney, as she emphasized, after my expressed concerns, she envisioned shoulder-length hair for me. Under no circumstance is it acceptable for a stylist to disregard and override a client’s wishes for their own vision of what they want to do. Sadly, I will not be returning to this salon. I would not recommend anyone get their haircut with Courtney.

Critical: ValueToday, I had an appointment to get my hair cut and colored. I signed up for a full hair dye but the stylist insisted highlights would be better, so I agreed. But then, she did not tell me that she’d be charging me more money for a gloss that I didn’t agree to and for highlighting the ends of my hair which is apparently more money. If she’d told me these things cost more money, I would have absolutely said no, but she didn’t say a word about a difference in price. This is so not ok, as a returning customer I already had been very flexible about the whole appointment. A couple hours before the appointment they told me that my hair stylist was sick and not coming in so they’d have someone else cut it and an assistant do the wash, and I said “that’s ok, all good”. But then I ended having to sit and wait for the hair stylist because she had another appointment at that time. Luckily the meeting I had to go to was postponed. But I work for a nonprofit, I cannot afford a $325 hair appointment and never would have signed up for if they’d told me about the additional charges. After all that, the highlights did not at all cover up any of my dark roots which was my major concern and the reason why I had signed up to get my hair done in the first place. I am so disappointed, this was the worst surprise to come to at the register after a dye job that didn’t even fix my main hair concern. And the $325 was after I used a $27 gift card. After they saw I was upset, the colorist came over and broke down all these additional secret charges. Finally she agreed to not charge me for the dyed ends and they took $50 off for that, but was still $75 more than I was planning on paying. Positive: QualityHave been happy every time I have gone here – Katie has worked with me, listened to me, and provided amazing hair coloring results! I just left my second service with her and booked two more appointments – I can’t believe how she listened to me and produced just what I was after – she is VERY good! I also had a great first hair cut appointment with Micah and am looking forward to my next cut as well.Also, the salon has been very diligent about COVID safety for their professionals and guests – I appreciate the plastic dividers, temperature screenings and COVID exposure questionnaire at the door, and hand sanitizer and masks in use. I also have a couple of neighbors who go here and they have always been happy and their hair looks great! Second haircut at Casal’s and still in love (two different stylists). The staff is professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Consultation is extensive. Haircut includes a neck/back/hand massage in a dedicated massage room (not at shampoo). Shampoo conditioning time is passed with a lovely mini facial. The price of the cut includes this pampering, blow dry and styling; it also INCLUDES the tip! After this last haircut, I decided I wanted to bring the length up a bit more for a more drastic change. The stylist made time for me within the week and was happy to accommodate me. I’m so glad I found Casal’s!!!

These stars are LONG overdue- Casal’s at Clarendon is, hands-down, the best salon I have ever been to in my life. Others have already noted how amazing they are at providing an all-around, fantastic salon experience (starting off with a massage, giving you a facial while your hair is getting rinsed, etc), and this is all fantastic and true. Too add to that, they are knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, and exceptional at hair. I’ve been doing for almost two years and I have never been disappointed in a cut or color!!
