Today I got my haircut at Cualtzin Salon for the first time, and it was an amazing experience. The salon itself is absolutely gorgeous- it is a very peaceful environment with gorgeous artwork. They use the incredible Davines hair products here. Lucia (the stylist who cut my hair) was beyond welcoming and kind! I am in love with my haircut- Lucia did such an incredible job and I will be looking forward to returning to this salon next time I need to get my hair done. Thank you so much again Lucia for such a wonderful experience!!! 🙂

I had the best experience here!!!! Lucia is magic. My hair was completely destroyed. It was fried, damaged and several different colors. I am naturally blonde and I bleached my hair and dyed it blue then brown then blue again and then purple and then I bleached it again and put blonde box dye over it. I was going to shave my head it was such a lost cause. Lucia somehow gave me the most gorgeous light blonde and also an amazing hair cut. I received so many compliments!!! Everyone wanted to know where I got my hair done! And I told everyone!!! Aside from her being incredibly knowledgeable and experienced she is so kind!! She worked for over 4 hours on my hair and talked me through the whole process. I cannot tell you how wonderful she is. And the salon is eco friendly!!! I could write another review about all the amazing swaps and choices they make for the environment!!! Only thing I want to mention is that they don’t accept Venmo for tip if you forget cash and they won’t add it onto card. My last salon i went to for years had an atm in the salon and they accepted Venmo so I got out of the habit of bringing cash. So don’t forget to bring cash!

Prior to coming here I unfortunately went to a salon where instead of a balayage I was given terrible highlights and instead of long layers was given a butchered haircut with uneven short layers and half my hair was chopped off. I hated my hair and thought there was no way of fixing it anymore other than growing it out and looking for a different salon. Thanks to Lucia and Kanchana they fixed my hair so that it actually was a balayage and evened out the layers. I understood I cannot get my long hair back nor undo the layers (not their fault), but I appreciated Lucia fixed the butchered cut so it looked better than what it was before. Now I cannot wait until my hair is long again to come straight here to do my hair. After searching and unfortunately having bad experiences at other hair salons, I finally found a salon where not only do they know what they’re doing, but are so great at what they do that they can even fix other salon’s mistakes.

Having not been into a salon in years. My hair needed serious help. I found cualtzin on google. I booked an appointment with Kanchana. She listened to what I was looking for and then explained that the results I was looking for will be a process due to me dying my own hair. The staff there are great, its a clean salon, their so knowledgeable on your hair questions. I love the results of my hair! Kat and Kanchana did amazing job. Love the massage I received after Kat washing my hair. I didn’t expected it but I needed it thank you. I found my favorite salon.

I followed Lucia from Aveda to her salon in Old Town, even though it takes me 30-40 minutes from Mclean. Best cuts, color, and relaxers. Yep, I get it all. I have several other friend that drive from Arlington you thr salon too. They are also green…. they recycle EVERYTHING, which is really great. Highly recommend!

Cualtzin Salon, and Lucia, met and went above and beyond! They are transparent and passionate about their products, processes, and business practices. They are a Green Circle salon, and recycle their PPE- definitely research these practices, they’re amazing! Or just ask Lucia, she loves talking about her time owning and operating a sustainable salon.It had been a year since I last had my hair cut and colored, so Lucia had a huge project on her hands. My hair takes about 3 hours from start to finish to color, cut, and dry and Lucia took it all in stride like the pro she is! She could not wait to get going and she asked me so many questions to make sure she knew what I wanted- I told her blonder, healthier, and as much length as she could save. She certainly delivered and then some! There are no chemical smells like with other products and my hair came out smelling wonderful, not like the processing chemicals other products use. Davines is a great company- look them up and you will be impressed with their work for the planet and hair!I was in the chair for almost 4 hours but it did not feel that way. Lucia and Alyssa made me feel so comfortable and like a part of their team instead of a client. We had wonderful, deep conversations and lots of laughs all day! Lucia’s story is amazing and I definitely love the environment she creates in her salon. It is clean, professional, and has the tools and expertise of a top-notch salon without any sense of a “factory”/in and out experience.Lucia is also extremely careful with COVID-19 precautions. She abides by the regulations set by Virginia and the state licensing body for salons. Masks are 100% required and enforced by Lucia, and you must wait until your scheduled time so they can thoroughly clean all chairs and surfaces between each client. I very much appreciate her dedication to safe and enjoyable salon experiences.Whether you are looking for just a new salon, a small business, or are dedicated to sustainability like I am, Cualtzin Salon is the place for all hair needs!
