I was very excited to try out dry bar for the first time ever. Unfortunately, in this location, on a weekend street parking is VERY hard to find. If you are running late at all, forget about your appointment. I was running literally just 10 minutes late on the dot after finding parking and I also tried to call and let them know, but they turned off their phone to phone calls. I had an important event that day and was also willing to wait but they wouldn’t let me have my appointment. To top it off they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee. I understand that I was the one that was late but this was my first time and they should tell you about their late policy when booking the appointment.

I’ve never written a review before but I just had to say something. I came to Old Town a couple days before my wedding and I told Jami (my stylist who was doing my hair for the rehearsal dinner) about how I wasn’t going to have much time for hair before my wedding. She texted me the next day offering to come in early and do my hair for the wedding! It came out so beautiful and I called her my fairy godmother. This was above and beyond. Run don’t walk to get your hair done by her!!

I love this location because everyone is always very professional and I am always happy with my hair when I leave. The location is in a great area with lots of places to eat and shop before and after my appointment, as well. I recommend Drybar to people all of the time because I appreciate the simplicity of the blow out. You are in and out within an 1hr to 1.5hr. I love the diversity of the stylist.

This experience had its ups and downs. My hair is very thick and holds water. My stylist did a great job with washing my hair and trying to dry my hair. My roots are a little puffy but she took her time and tried to get it right. When pin curling my hair my stylist did not seem to know how to really execute the style. Overall I had to re-flat iron my roots and repin my hair, but again I know that she was trying her best. I’d just like to get my hair done without having to redo it after paying for the service.

This is one of the worst run businesses I have ever seen. Drybar has gone downhill in the last few years. The salon is dirty, appointments are never on time (usually a 20 minute wait, even when I’m the first appointment of the day). I had a Barfly membership and asked how many credits I currently have and even the manager couldn’t tell me how many. How is that even possible? And trying to get in touch with Drybar support over email is impossible. So sad, Drybar used to be so awesome but it’s so poorly run now!

I was really excited to try out drybar because I have friends that love it. I knew my hair didn’t hold curl the best so I warned the stylist to curl it tight and load it with spray. (note that a week ago I had my hair curled for another event somewhere else and it held up all day and through the night after a verey active photoshoot and lots of hands in my hair, so it is possible to get my hair to hold curl just difficult). The hairspray was flexible hold, and some of the curls were falling out before I even left. The stylist even commented that they were falling but didn’t try to touch them up. 15 minutes later I got home and almost all the curl was gone. For my engagement pictures I ended up running a wet brush through my hair and just blowing it dry myself. Honestly, it was the biggest and most disappointing $80 I’ve ever spent. Nice stylists and cool atmosphere, but didn’t get what I expected or paid for.

I had the worst experience. Had to walk out without a blowout. My son is being baptized today and they didn’t even bother to call and tell me that they are running 45-60 min late. Which when you have small kids is a HUGE deal. Didn’t even tell me when I got there. And to think I was considering a membership program. So now my entire morning has to be rearranged. I just wanted to look nice in the photos. If I could give zero stars I would. You could at least call your customers and tell them you can’t keep a schedule.

I usually do not write reviews but my experience at the Drybar in Old Alexandria was that disappointing. This was my first time at Drybar. I was not familiar with the service and the websites did not fully explained the experience. I have textured hair. The stylist that greeted me assured me she could do all types of hair. I asked her if she could wrap my hair after the service. She agreed. She washed and blow dried my hair. I noticed 45 mins into the appointment that she has not started to flat iron my hair. I asked her and she did not think I wanted to have my hair flat ironed. I never told her not to flat iron my hair because I expected that it was part of the service. She started to flat iron my hair and I felt that she rushed the process. In the end, my hair did not feel dry, it was frizzy, and ultimately the service did not meet my expectations.
